The Belarus Committee seeks to provide a platform and coordination for joint action of associated organizations working to help the people of Belarus. We aim to chronicle violations of international law and universal human rights in Belarus and campaign at home and abroad to end them. We will maintain pressure on the government of Belarus to meet international human rights standards, in particular on the rights to free speech and free association. The Belarusian people should be free to determine their own future through free and fair elections according to international standards and declared by international monitors, and all Belarusians must be allowed fair and equal opportunity to campaign in the new elections
Our immediate goals are:
1.That all political prisoners currently held in Belarus are immediately released without conditionl
2.Prisoners have access to appropriate medical and legal assistance.
3.An end to threats and harassment against those helping the political prisoners.
4.International awareness abroad about the current situation in Belarus through media work and public action.
5.To generate solidarity between Belarusian NGO’s, lawyers and civil society.
